Description: This herb may be safely used to increase stamina in the face of undue demands and stress. Siberian ginseng appears to have a general tonic effect on the body, in particular on the adrenal glands, helping the body to withstand heat, cold, infection, other physical stresses, and radiation. It has even been given to astronauts to counter the effects of weightlessness.
Athletes have experienced as much as a 9% improvement in stamina when taking Siberian ginseng.
Preparation:
Decoction- add 1-2 tbsp of root to water and bring to a boil then lower heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes
– Siberian Ginseng is usually available as tablet or powder, the dosage of which should be between 0.2–1g three times a day, over a period of time
Caution: Healthy young adults should not take for more than 6 weeks. Can be taken long term on professional advice. Avoid caffeine when taking Siberian ginseng. Side effects are rare, but more likely if the standard dose is exceeded.
